The procedure heats skin to improve skin tone and reduce surface imperfections associated with aging and photo damage such as redness, veins and lightly pigmented brown spots. Joie’s team of Clinical Skin Experts will customize your IPL photofacial to your skin type and selectively treat the brown and/or red pigmented areas on your skin. A cooling gel helps relieve any momentary discomfort. Treatment time depends on the size and number of areas treated, but generally takes one hour and can be layered in to your Custom Treatment.
IPL stands for Intense Pulsed Light; our technique takes advantage of the latest in skincare technology by utilizing multiple wavelengths that target cells beneath the surface of the skin. The result? These wavelengths help remove hyperactive melanin-producing cells, resulting in a more uniform facial appearance.
Multiple signs of sun damage, including:
- Redness and red patches
- Brown and red spots
- Pigment or complexion imperfections
- Ultraviolet damage
WHAT TO EXPECT
Following your treatment, brown spots will immediately darken and skin may appear slightly red. Any redness will dissipate within a few of hours. Within one to three weeks, the darkened spots will flake off and fade, redness or veins will decrease, and skin tone will become more even. One to three treatments are usually sufficient to see results, however additional treatments may be recommended for excessively sun damaged skin. To avoid new brown spots, veins and diffuse redness, remember to always apply broad-spectrum sunscreen every day. We also offer series for best results. IPL Photofacial treatments can be done on any of the following locations: arms, legs, shoulders, chest, neck, hands, and face.
